Beauceron (French Smooth Shepherd Dog): estrus, pregnancy, childbirth
As a rule, the first estrus in a boseron female occurs in 6-12 months and passes 2 times a year, duration - 7 - 28 days. During estrus, the dog may become pregnant.
According to the rules of the Belarusian Cynological Association, the mating of a beauceron is allowed at the age of 18 months, and the dog at 16 months of age. However, many are convinced that it is better to wait until the dog is at least 2 years old.
It is important to remember that the positive effects of pregnancy on health are a dangerous fallacy.
Pregnancy is very stressful and stresses on the body, so only perfectly healthy dogs should be allowed to breed.
Boseron's pregnancy lasts from 53 to 71 days, in which case puppies will be born viable.

Changes in the dog’s behavior testify to the upcoming birth of Beauceron: she worries, whines, licks her genitals, scratches the walls or floor. Urination, pulse, and breathing become more frequent. The bitch refuses food, but continuously drinks.
Beauceron, like any other dog, may have a false pregnancy. This is a psycho-physiological change in a female who is not fertilized, but at the same time behaves as if she is undergoing a pregnancy. She is engaged in the construction of the "nest", takes care of toys and may even experience the likeness of fights.
If the dog is sterilized, the risk of a false pregnancy is reduced.
In case of a false pregnancy, boseron should remove the toys and limit the dog’s intake of protein. Some cases require a visit to the veterinarian, because a false pregnancy can indicate a disease (hypothyroidism or liver dysfunction).
If you decide to take birth on your own, keep the phone number of a veterinarian and experienced breeder on hand who can advise you if complications arise.
